B18 Longblock VS Shortblock

Okay,

for all of you honda gear heads out there (ESPECIALLY MARK) what's the B18 longblock? what is a longblock? I thought longblock was just used when referring to old 427's and stuff... please excuse my ignorance. I read this term for the first time today.

and if there is a longblock, then is there a short block? and if so, what's better?

thx for your help

a longblock is the compleate motor.. from top to bottom (bottom end, head, cams, everything) usually without accessories (alt, P/S pump, A/C comp., etc).

a shortblock is usually just the bottomend
