b20 vtec

im planning on doing a b20 vtec build this summer....anyone have any ideas on how much power i could be making, and what i need to get the most power outta this build?

Very good power. Just make sure you at least change the pistons to something with a slight higher comp ratio. A good valvetrain with cams and a tune would make the car a blast to drive. Oh and bolt ons etc.

IntegraMark 04-12-2007 06:23 AM

yup what he said

also make sure you use ARP Rod bolts, main studs and head studs. machine work is almost a must if you want it to be reliable and rev high and not blow it up.

are you going NA or F/I

n/a

N/A....forced induction cost 2 much and blows way 2 easily

ahh man forced induction is way cheaper then N/A if ur looking to achieve equal results. if u run at a low psi for daily driving, and ur not spooling every damn gear, then ur chances of blowing your motor are the same as an N/A setup. besides, if u blow a heavily modded motor u will most likely lose the majority of the money u put into it, where as if ur boosted, ur turbo doesn't get damaged :smilie_da just a thought.

yeah, if you use the b20 rotating assembly(crank, rids, pistons) that will put you at about 9:1 compression which is perfect for boost. The only thing i suggest is resleeving the block

jdmsteR 04-14-2007 06:44 PM

yes, definitely resleeve the block if you're planning to boost, as the b20 blocks are known for having weaker cylinder walls

im guessing im pushing around the 200hp area with my b2/b16a and a v2 intake. havent dyno'd it yet but thats a ballpark guess. but torque is the big thing you will notice.

panesar187 04-21-2007 03:36 PM

cooll...well this summer im gonna start doing something for sure...still gotta think about the boost tho...sounds good

any other mods besides the intake? If not, you might be making 170-180 whp

IntegraMark 04-22-2007 04:05 PM

ya i can't see 200hp with stock internals. an intake wont do that much. if it had cams and higher compression pistons, then it possible
