Can you get a quiet performace exhaust?

I am planning on buying a Honda Civic and am interested in modifying it but i want to do something different. I see big exhausts hanging out the **** of modified cars all the time and i understand the point of them, but can you get one that derestrics the airflow without half of the world knowing?

2 things to look out for if you want less noise in your exhaust.1)Cat convertor to remain intact.2)Maximum tail pipe diameter of not more than 2.5".

Yeah, all you need is a catback exhaust system with a resonator in the midpipe, or a silencer. Both of these would cut down the Db your car is putting out making the cabin a bit quieter than without it. As far as not having a large tailpipe, thats a different story. You have to look at it like this, the larger the exit the quicker the hot exhaust fumes can exit your vehicle giving you better acceleration and a cooler motor.

you can install a by-pass tubing that runs to another more non-restrictive exhaust (you still keep your stock exhaust). this can be activated/deactivated by electromechanical valve.thus, with a flick of a button you can choose between a silent exhaust (for the street) and a loud exhaust (for the track).

To get the lowest quietest sound you have to step up to NAME BRAND parts. If your paying under 500 for an exhaust setup its garbage. Look into Apex-i World Sport cat-back systems or greddy, HKS

yeah, look at dynomax super turbo mufflers. The bigger the muffler, the less noise it will produce but still give you free flow. Get the biggest one you can fit under there. Also, adding resonators in line will also quiet things down.
