Car sputters after a stop over heating?

92 Honda Civic (b16a Manual), during the day (florida heat) when If I come to a stop and then start to go, the car feels like its struggling for power. (as if im pushing the gas pedal in and out). (the temperature gauge is working) and reads just under half when this happens. It does not do this at night.Checked the coolant and the radiator everything is where it should be.A few years ago I had the fuel pump replaced, and another problem that the car has is it will struggle for gas when it gets near 1/4 a tank.Any ideas of what it could be? What I could check? And how much it may cost to fix?

Maybe your thermostat needs to be replaced?

It could be a vapor lock problem, the added heat of the day could cause the problem to be worse. There is also a sock in the gas tank that can become plugged with crud. To fix that blow backwards through the fuel line and drop a magnet down the tank to attract the rust particles. It could be a sensor on the intake that tells the car how much air is going through the intake and how much fuel to give the engine. Sorry but there are several things that could be causing your problem. It could even be the spark plugs as they get old they get weak and do not like to fire when they get hot and has compression against them. There could also be a hole in the pick-up tube in the tank causing it to lose suction when at 1/4 tank. Good Luck.
