Cool complete swap or new head?

This is a question for all the experts... even the non-experts... In your opinion what's better to do... I have a 96 Integra RS sedan and want v-tec... so what's the best way to go, just get a gsr engine or change the head on it?

ls/vtec. It has a lil bit more displacement than the gsr only thing major is the between the two is gsr comes with piston oil squirters for better cooling doesnt really make a difference bc ls/vtec has been proven to be just as good.

swappin in the gsr would probably be the easiest, however, you will just have a intergra gsr at the end.

ls/vec is at least the less common of the two and if you build it yourself, you at least get bragging rights, and more torque...

I would base it more on what condition your bottom end is in. I would do a leak down, a compression test and a wet compression test for comparsion. This will show you the general health of the engine. If you are unsure of what a wet compression test is i can explain it and how to do all these tests properly. Many poeple do not know how to do many of these tests properly as much as they may think. Once the health of the engine is determined i would go from there with your decision.

if you want the cheapest way id say go gsr. If you build an ls/vtec is must be built right if not it will not last.

^^^ Exactly.

for an LS/vtec to handle the high revs you need to do some work to the bottom end such as ARP main studs and rod bolts, shot peened rods new bearings. higher flowing water and oil pmp

if you just want to cruise then put a gsr if you want to give some zaps then do an ls/vtec but make sure you build the bottom end since its going to be taken apart and some work to head but if you don't want to spend a lot then just do a stock ls/vtec
