ForceFedSi can only hope to improve
an LS motor by itself isn't a poor mans type-r... and the b18-b redline is 6800... so 7500 is a huge over-rev dude... your losing power and damaging the engine simultaneously.

powerband is 140 BHP@6300 RPM on a b18 b1... i thinks its about 10 horsepower less on the older b18-b motor.

CTR redline is 9000 and the powerband is 185 BHP@8200 RPM

not a good idea, higher revs doesn;t neccissairly mean more power or better power band.

the ls/vtec is only as good as you build it. if you just slap a vtec head on an ls block and call it a day, don't expect it to last long if you plan on hitting 7500rpm. if do a little machine work, toss in new bearings and arp rod and crank bolts, it's very possible

i should be able to safely hit 9k on mine once it's finished

a poor man's type R is a B18C1 bottom end with the B18C5/B16B head or B16A head with R valvetrain.

The B18C1 has identical rotating assembly to the B18C5. Also the B18C5's pr3-4 head is the same pr3 casting as a B16 head but it has been reworked a bit from the factory.
