pull the distributor cap off and check to see if there is any redish brown dust inside....if so your distributor bearing maybe on its way out.

If your engine is noisy maybe it also needs a valve adjustment, which would be result of the timing being messed (dizzy making noise)

When did he ever say anything about timing?, You need a distributor, your bearing is done.

Its been a while since i posted on my thread. but no the distrib bearing wasnt gone its perfect. Changed the rotor and cap, the coil blew..had it changed. problem solved. That beltish noise i think is the timing belt or the valves needing to be adjusted.

The new problem is the motor misfires like crazy. I have new heades, new wires, new spark plugs and rebuilt distributer in. Anyone got ne ideas? Oh And I've already Reset The ECU. it only misfires when the motor is warm and not when its cold.

Also today fixing the grommets i think they out of place..and possibly the head gasket could be ed. The Down Pipe doesnt line up right with the Cat. So what we thinking of doing is unbolting the down Pipe from the header, and bolting the downpipe on to the cat aligned, then heating the header n forcing the downpipe onto the header with the bolts n nuts.

If anyone thinks this is a bad idea. or know anything about misfiring.. let Me know. Thanks.

did you read the above quote? invader said that valve adjustemnt might be needed as a result of dizzy being messed, referred to ignition timing.

is their oil in the coolant? Coolant in your oil? Does your car smoke a lot? You say theres still good compression, have you used a comp tester? what where the results? any cylinders lower than the other?...how much?
Check to see what your ignition timing is with a timing light and adjust via the distributor if necessary.
What kind of spark plugs did you use and what did you gap them to?
What kind of wires did you get? Are you certain you put them on in the correct order?

Now for the matter of your header. Did you put on an aftermarket header? Does the flange on the header not line up with the flange on the cat? I know when we put my old dc 1 peice 4-1 (from my b16 in eg) on my buddies 94 teg LS the flanges were at a different angle. He took his car to zorro and they put some ford adapter on it (or something like that) for real like $20 or so and that was with a new spring/bolt kit.

when it comes down to it, you cant troubleshoot a misfire over ther internet. you have to drive the car, listen to it.

no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil. car smokes alot sometimes..sometimes not at all. yes it was compression tested..by a buddie of mine..they said it was good..I didnt ask for the results..I dont know what they mean. I dont know how to check ignition timing.
I use the iridium spark plugs..NGK. the second best ones u can get..not sure the exact details. the wires are the Taylor performance wires and yes they on right. only one setting worked. motor idles perfect except when the AC is on..then it shakes like no tommorow.
yes its an after market header. no it doesnt line up right. the cats bent to . i have the donut in..and its sealed but not perfectly aligned. the seal is barely there. and yes the flanges are at a differant angle. im thinkin getting that fixed when I take it in to get the new exaust pipe and Cat.

what was the gap set to on the spark plugs?
Also, check your injectors, fuel pump, kinks in the fuel lines, fuel pressure regualtor.

yea, the gap was set..I think its just my head gasket. since the bottom of the spark plugs are soaked with oil, and since im burning a liter of oil every 1000km
