Fuel reading problem

Hey guys, I am having trouble with my 91 teg. When I fill up my tank, the fuel gauge only goes to 3/4 full. Has anyone ever had this problem? I am thinking my float is screwed up but I could be mistaken.

Any help or ideas is appreciated... Thanks

Something similar happened to a friends malibu a while back and a gentleman at GM said that there was stuff in the gasoline that clogged up the float mechanism.

Check and see if that's a possibility with your car. That's only what i heard so it may not be totally correct

my first thought are your sending unit may be having issue. Since the hondas have easy access hatches i would remove it and test it. You can do test by raising and lowering the float with the sending unit still plugged in and Key on engine off. Be sure that your fuel pump is either un hooked or disabled.

Thanks guys. Yea I tried to get the back seat off today, but am having difficulty figuring out how those clips latch in. I will give it a try tomorrow and test the float. I kinda had a feeling it might be that, good to have other inputs on it though.

to pull out the bottom of your back seat you gotta remove a bold in between the back and the bottom of the seat in the centre. once that's out tilt it towards the front it the seat is vertical and then lift straight up.
