high milage oil or synthetic?
 

I just recently got a 1996 Integra GSR. It has around 218,000kms. I'm going to do an oil change soon and was wondering what kind of oil I should use? I heard I should be using those high milage oil or should I be using synthetic oil? I'm not going to be driving it like a race car so what do you guys recommend? Also should I be using high octage gas for a B18C1 GSR engine or is regular ok?

high octane gas.. stil puting 91 in my 92 GSR

for oil go with what you can afford, i would go with the high mileage oil personally especially on a stock gsr

So I should be using 91 octane or higher for my GSR? I'm getting some mixed answers though. Some say regular and some say premium. Which one is it?

I'm going to be driving my car everyday to work and back. I'm not going to be driving it like a race car. Should I be using synthetic or high mileage oil for my oil changes? Are they the same? Which brands should I be using and where can I get them?

91 octane and synthetic oil.

i had a 1990 gmc truck with 311k on it. the motor had one cylinder that used a bit of oil and it would foul the plug using normal oil, i switched to the high milage stuff and the fouled plug was no longer noticable, changed plugs and that entire time i had less oil consumption and no more missfire do to the plug getting fouled. really works man

Wouldnt go with the synthetic on a stock higher mileage motor. itll leak past the rings and burn off faster then normal oil.

Synthetic oil is finer than regular and is meant for tight tolerances in motors built for synthetic, or just a freshly rebuilt motor.

Stick with the regular or high mileage oils, synthetic is too expensive to be burning off (especially in an older honda which will most likely drink it, lol).

But the 91 octane is good to go!

alright thanks so 91 octane and high mileage oil it is. Any specifc brand I should be looking for. Is castrol or quaker state good brands?

i put valvoline max life...little more expensive

mobile 1 synthetic & ultra 94.... my mileage is 415kms en still strong....

mobile 1 synthetic... I thought I should be staying away from synthetic since it might cleaned the foul plugged I have and cause it to leak?

we looked into my computer the other day with hp tuners and found that gm has a high and low octane map in there. so basically for those who know anything about computer tuning, when the knock sensor isnt reading knock the computer will add a bit more timing and roll into the higher octane maps until it either starts to see knock or reachs the max allowable timing advance. right now my high octane maps are actually my low octane maps ;)

If the engine was run on synthetic since new, continuing to use synthetic will extend the life. If you run synthetic on a motor thats been running mineral oil for 200k+ km, it will probably cause the engine to start burning oil.

Just run high mileage oil.

how about the oil filter? I saw a Fram high mileage oil filter at CT and it cost like double the price of the regular oil filter. Is it worth paying double just for a high mileage filter? Whats the difference anyways between them?
