Can anyone help? My 1990 Honda Accord will not start, and it makes a weird noise when I try. The lights, stereo, etc.. all work fine, but my car just wont start. It almost sounds like the battery is dead but its not. Could it be the starter? I would really appreciate some answers if you have any...

Yes, I Belive It Is The Starter. You Need To Get It Changed If That Doesn't Work Bring It To A Mechanic.

Yes it could be starter, but before you get all excited, try using jumper cables from another car (be sure to hook cables up right, -- hook up 3, then "brush" 4th across termnal, - if it throws "fire" it is hooked up wrong). May make small spark (which is ok), this will tell you that one battery has more power stored up than the other! The lights can still all come on and "seem normaL", - if the battery is not dead, (but too "low" to throw the starter in to make it crank)! The "boosters"will increase power available, and will make the starter work -- if this is the problem! And of course make sure the battery terminals are clean and making good connections, some times they can make all kinds of wierd things happen when they are making "partial" connectuions, but not good enough to make the engine crank. Usually the lights all blink off as long as the key in start position, and then come on a little while after you let it back to "run " position. Reason for that is that the other stuff uses a small amount of current to operate (usally less than 5 amps), while the starter requires upwards of 150 amps to "crank"t. Sometimes it doesn't work that way though, - if it doesn't have enough power available (coming in ) to cause the starter solenoid to "click in", - it will just "sit there" and do nothing! It is an abnormal occourance, but does happen occasionally!!

First Does The Car Have A Security System Such As A Passlock Security System If So Then its possibly a bad body control modual that is if it cranks if it doesnt crank then possible the bendix on your starter or the ignition control modual or possibly even your keyswitch ...

If the vehicle has never had the timing belt change it is a good chance that is the problem. Having said that, there are many things that could be wrong. Some of the solid state engine controls may have gone to sleep.. Your best bet is to get someone that is smart enough to check a few things.
