Oval or Drag strip? As i used to drag race when i was young living in California....NHRA....then AHRA My first two cars were built as class cars.....Many rules when modified but if you ran a stock or a factory Super Stock as i had a 65 Comet cyclone / 289 German K engine that were know as a 289 Hi-Po.....271 HP, They came with 12 to 1 pistons.....solid lifters....a duel feed 710 C.F.M. holly. My point is i could run headers on it change the ignition but no magneto.also change the heat range of my spark plugs .Run the gears of my choice...it came with a 456-1 rear ratio,You could port & polish the valves and still run your class But'if you ran an over size fuel line they put you into another classI would need more info on the type of racing and so on.Ps...Gee if you could only run but hide a super charger on it.....Sure. Do ask around or see if there are rule books on your type of racing...Best of luck.Mick

"pure stock division"You cant use a turbo or nitrous. read the rule book an see what you can do.... mill the head or if you got a 1.6 put a 1.5 head on it that will bump your compression ratio.

In most local racing scenes, even the pure stock divisions (ie Production) you are allowed certain modifications.Make sure you read the rule book and ask a lot of questions at the track. Hang around guys that run the civics or the crx's; they will be able to tell you what works and what doesn't at that specific track.I assume you are talking about road racing and not drag racing, right? If road racing these are the typical upgrades you can do without moving out of production class (you really should check the rule book to confirm):- air intake (do whatever you want, run nothing if you want)- headers- cat back exhaust- race muffler with decible limit- cams (this depends on rules, some allow, others don't)- suspension (shocks & springs); you need to ask local honda guys and see what spring rates work best. For road racing, Koni yellows and Ground Control springs are the best set up. Forget the exotic coilovers, you're just throwing money down the drain.- swap to urathane bushings all around ... front and back- get a 23mm or 24mm rear sway bar (if rules allow), this is important as the Honda's has a tendency to lift the inside rear wheel during hard corners- I suspect an LSD is out of the question, but if it is allowed, get it.- stainless steel brake lines are allowed so get it- bigger brakes may not be allowed, if it is, get it. At least get race pads and cross drill rotors- make sure you get lighter wheels and the stickiest tires allowed. Lighter wheels make a big differenceOk, I think that's all the go fast stuff you can do with a relatively stock/production class. These mods are generally what would be allowed in stock classes.have fun.- of course, get the car as light as humanly possible-
