K series vs. B series
i didnt want to hijack the other thread, so i made this one...
lol, forget about the $1000 car for a moment...
how is it inferior. okay, i know what you mean sorta, k20 is newer. but aftermarket, i dont see how k is better. like no good turbo setup on a honda is cheaper than 12000 (like for it installed and tuned properly). so we're already in the big leagues. lets say you have $20 grand to build a motor and put it in the car and tuned and everything. if you go k, you'd only get so far before you run of money. with a b, you can get farther and faster cause parts are cheaper and proven setups are done over and over again. i dont think the .4 litre displace of the k20/k24 setup can still match the b-series setup (b18 bored out to 2 ltrs)
i dont get it... someone care to explain?

Do you know anybody at all who own's a k-series swap?
The people who say k-series is to expensive are the people who just don't look hard enough. Yes stolen they are cheap but even getting them legal is still quite affordable.

yes to get your hands on the k20 swap isnt much but the little things that are needed to get the swap done into a car not equipped factory with it is expensive like the hybridracing motor mount kit and all the rest for ease and please get a b series and go nuts raping everything on the road

If I had the 20grand to build a motor I would obviously go with K-Series. A K24/k20 combo would be killer. The TSX motor goes for around $3500 if you look hard enough and the Type S head wont be that much more. Strap the Type S tranny to it and it will have good gearing. Then I would sleeve the block, get some pistons/rods, 1600CC injectors , AEM EMS , stage 4 axles , garett gt35r turbo, intercooler , standalone, cams/camshafts, custom straight pipe exhaust (3'' piping), BOV , stage 3 clutch kit, upgraded fuel pump, fuel cell, light weight racing battery, port and polish the head to TYPE R specifications, and thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
This would probably cost from 15-20grand depending on where you get your parts and if you got hookups or not.
That would be good for 400-600whp EASY. You might even get more depending on how good you get it tuned. Theres many different combo's you can do with k-series to get ALOT of power. This is one of the best because you get the torque of 2.4L kseries and the top end of a built type R.
On B-series you can make the same numbers if not better numbers with the money. But I would prefer the k24/k20 combo on boost better just because they've just started making pistons/rods, cams and for the k-series. Over the years Kseries will start making more and more power. Like look at the all motor K-series. Stock K20A with Hondata can make 205-220whp stock...

k, i have a k-series (2003), its basically stock in a coupe (210 Whp, 160 Torque) The only reason i have this is cuz i wrote of my old rsx and it was cheaper to buy a civic throw the engine in and go! Like any swap i had a few little things to fix here and there at the beginning, but its fun as hell. However it is more expensive no matter how hard you look for parts just cuz its newer than the b series or h series.
Oh btw its not better or worse and the b-series is def not obsolete, why???cuz i got spanked by a civic on that side road between sq1 and the highway, (dont know what he was running, red ek coupe driven by an asian dude) if you fit that discription and you ever beat a purple coupe than good race. other than that i have taken out some pretty serious rides, stangs, G35s, other civics, bmws, trans ams, and a few audis.
Not better, just different!!!

w/all the money spent on juss gettin a K-series in at the current moment, mite as well juss get a b-series, build it and turbo it....and when u get bored part it out n sell the shell and all...At the end all is reversible.....I would only get a k-series if I was the type thats hardcore into NA and I know i wont part the car out later on....
