malfunctioning rpm tach

hey i got an 93 srv 5spd and when on the hghway im running at 2400 when i know i should be runnin at 3000, very rarely it will kck on and work for a while and the return to the lower rpm while driving, any suggestions?? not serious just really annoying

i would start with checking wiring fom pcm to vss. I would get a nice wiring diagram and do tests with a multimeter to ensure proper wiring. It would be idle to have a sope on the vss to log its wavform pattern, but thats most likely out of your hands. You could also do the easy thing and be a parts replacer until you found your problem... i hate it when poeple do that hahhaa

yah i could have my mech take a look im not too huge into wiring, but it really sucks when i over rev her unknowingly. nothin to do with the load detector? that was my guess. thanks
