Motor question

what is the difference between the d16y8 and the d16z6?
aren't the both from the 92-95 civic si? and don't they both have vtec?

d16y8 is from the 96-00 civic, while the z6 is from the 92-95 civic. Yes, they do have vtec, and yes they are both SOHC.

-the z6 head flows better compared to the y8

-the y8 has a better intake manifold (i.e. better flowing)

Also, the Y8 cam has a bit more lift compared to the Z6. ive been told almost 1mm bigger in non-vtec and .25mm bigger in vtec. If doing a mini-me, the Y8 head will have higher compression than the Z6, although the Z6 will have better flow.

damn this is tough. so what exactly would be the better choice for boost? compression? or flow? i would asume compression, but boosting is forced compression? so flow would be the better choice? i have a 98 SI so the Y8 would be the better choice i presume?sorry for all the Qs lol

so the Y8 would be better for eventually boosting on my 98 EK? the engine has 230xxx Km as of now. should i change the block as well as the head? getting costly if so.
