No intercooler?

NOTORIOUS VR 04-04-2005 10:15 AM

Most drag cars are a water to air interfooler... which is inside the car.

Most but not this one. The pipe from the turbo to the tb doesn't leave the engine bay.

then its running methanol...you dont need a cooler then

skillton 04-04-2005 02:38 PM

How come? Does it run cooler, or does the methanol just burn slow enough so that it doesn't detonate?

Methanol runs way cooler than any race gas, by the time your down the track your engine will probably be cold.

Chigga 04-04-2005 06:13 PM

ah........ no, ur engine won't be cold, but for that brief 20seconds, there's no point, methanol burns a lot cooler/cleaner than gasoline.

Actually most don't even have intercoolers, either because they are running methanol which doesn't have issues with detonation or because of using the cooling effects of gasoline evaporating or even more effective NOS evaporating.
