Premium Brakes - High Quality?

I just finished going through my second pair of rotors in two years. While I was changing them I remembered something I read on Hondatech.com one day about how premium brake pads (semi metallic) cut grooves into brake rotors. I really feel at this point that it has been proven in my case. I put some generic rotors, and cheapy asbestos pads on and was amazed at the stopping ability, I didn't even need to break them in. The pads that I replaced were barely worn but the rotors had huge, nasty grooves cut in them. So the whole point of this post is to ask everyone what their opinion is on this matter. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, what is a good quality, non metallic brake pad that is reliable and doesn't damage the rotor?

ENDLESS brake pads there are amazing the more you heat them the better they stop.
