Replacing one or both sides?

A dealer has recommended replacing both sides of the rear suspension and springs for my Prelude SH which was in a accident. The insurance is only agreeing to replace the damaged side. What are the issues on replacing only one side and who is correct in this argument - Dealer or Insurance adjuster. (PS: I have State Farm who is usually good at replacements.)
