Shock change or not.

i have tokico shocks and ractive coilovers and the ride is brutal. mind you i've dropped the car 3" but even at a moderate drop (1.5") the ride is fairly rough. I'm guessing it's b/c the coil springs are very stiff so i'm hoping a set of eibach springs should help out. i just want to know if i'd need to replace the shock too. are there shocks availabe that are meant to operate at a lower ride heights or just shocks with more damping? i know part of the problem is with a 3" drop the shocks are bottomed out so im wondering if a 2" drop will still leave some shock travel and since springs are softer than coilovers maybe the ride will improve. more concerned with descent ride than performance at this point.

so you getting rid of your coilovers and getting springs right? if thats the case then check your tokico shocks if they leaking...if not then just use them with the springs but if they do leak get a set of new shocks but try staying away from tokico shocks(they start to leak to fast plus lots of problems with warranty) i would recomand some KYB shocks and some tein, neuspeed, h&r or eibach lowering springs...

full coilovers?

are full coilovers overkill for street use? if my shocks are worn out i don't want to end up buying separate springs and shocks that may be mismatched. i could keep the coilover sleeves and just get shocks that are meant to work with those coilovers but i'm pretty sure coilover sleeves ride rougher than springs and i'm also skeptical about shocks bottoming out. so at least with full coilovers you know everyting will match up. also with springs you have to hope for the best with ride height and an even drop. any suggestions on what direction i should go and some good names.

one more thing, even if my shocks are somewhat worn out, would a good set of springs make the ride decent and do most springs fit on tociko shocks.
need some help here.
