Short Throw Shifter

I just bought a short throw shifter for my 96 integra. I haven't installed it yet but I wanted to know if it would really make a difference when I drive. I heard that it makes shifting gears quicker. I need some input.

u can just shift faster u dont have to throw it as far my buddy drove my car once and he cut his down cuz he was to cheap 2 buy one only disadvantage if ur always flyin threw the gears wears ur tranny out

i mean if you are relly putting it in to gear fast like goin threw the gears as fast as you can your gunna wear your tranny out

Also, make sure you buy a short shifter that is high quality, I've seen some that have snapped (ebay). You don't want to be driving with vice grips :P

There are many short throw shifter and personally i prefer an oem itr shifter. Sure the shifts are shorter with the short throws but they break. The only short throw i would buy is the skunk2. If you jus want a shorter throw for daily driving cool but from a racing aspect i would rethink it.

it makes a difference and it makes your life easier rather than stretching out on 1st 3rd and 5th.

you may lose distance with the shift but you also lose leverage.

i'm running one of these in my car i'm happy with it kinda.
BMRacing

ergonomically it's not the best since i gotta reach for it a little. i might get an extention for it.

its a sick thing to have, but after shifting through the gears on an nsx, you'd wonder why you went through the trouble for what you got out of it.

I have a 93 that is supposed to have a short shifter in it... it looks like they cut the top off it too...

Anyway to tell if there is actualy a shorty in there?

honda_boy_9090 01-30-2008 01:35 PM

don't bother with anything that's been cut most likely not a short throw shifter if your gonna spend the money go with b&m i have one i love it i've had it in my civic for about 4 years hasn't snapped on me yet i've tried others did'nt like them or they snapped on me i say B&M is the way to go.
