B16A2 should buy a rope to hang!
Turbo Crv???

well i was lookin at CRV's and i found out that they only weigh 3100 lbs.. now thats 1000 lbs more than a civic CX.. but i figure that with all un nessasary options removed, i could get it down to an OK 2800 lbs... now on the the fun part

i am building a turbo LS engine over the winter and its going to put down about 300-350 crank HP... now if my calculations are corect.. that shopuld be good for a 12.6-13.0 second pass in a civic... so if i add 800-900 lbs it should decrease my ET by .8 seconds.. so id be running 13.4-14 seconds in a CRV... it would be very easy for me to increase the power to 400 wheel HP just by adding sleeves to my build... now we'd be talking like 12.9-13.5 in a CRV!!!

now my biggest question is... will a CRV manual tranny bolt to an LS block?? and the other question is.. will the AWD system take 400 horse without exploding? or could i just convert it to FWD...

i did a quick search for fast CRV's and couldnt find any.. so anyone with some info should let me know if im just plain stupid or if this could happen

thanks

Travis

There is far too much bench racing in this thread.

Look at it this way... it's a Honda, if it were possible, it would have been done by now.

I know you probably started building the ls engine, which is fine, but if you were going to get a crv you might as well have built the b20. But that doesn't really matter since the b18 should be an easy swap for a crv, although i dont think anyone has ever tried it. You would probably even get better results by putting a vtec head on the b20 and building from there.
As for the manual tranny, from what i understand all b-series trannies are interchangable, so this one should be no different.
I know nothing about the awd though.
So i guess this would be a cool project, especially if you want points for uniqueness, but it might get a tad expensive.

I'd be worried about the CRV driveline... the axles in the back are about as thick as a pencil

Also... in terms of 1/4 mile numbers, you have to think that the WHP will be lower with AWD vs FWD (more parasitic loss)

I say.... search hondatech

You would lose some power through the drivetrain, but if you could get the power through the transmission, and to the wheels, you'd have everyone by a car length right off the line. The only problem is, handling, height, and all the other problems with sportcutes. Personnally I'd say you'd be better off swapping the CRV awd system into an EX. Now that would be fast if you could make it work. BBYE Sti's, evo's and R32 GTI's. Like Fred said, it's a honda, if it could be done it would have been done.
