Anything closer to stock is more reliable power so an h22 would be your best bet. Just get custom axels and your good to go straight.

no. the one from the d16y8. it has steel shift forks as opposed to aluminum ones found in the s20 (92-95 si)

I would build up the Z6 (new pistons and rods) and turbo charge since you already have the motor and it will save you time and money plus a build Z6 can easily put out 400 whp with the right parts.

noone can answer this question right unless you state your power goals or if you are intested in 1/4 mile times.

dont even bother with the single cam POS. go with an h22. some light motor work and u wont need 250-350whp because ur car will still rip pretty hard.
and it will be much more reliable then a boost setup.

agreed, with your goals in mind i would choose the h22, however you will need a small amount of attention to good suspension to acheive good handling for the occassional track.

even though the z6 would be cheaper he would not have the reliablity factors like he would with the h22. I have seen what the sohcs are capable of but the tension is still there with how long the engine will hold up especiallly on closer to the 400 horses range. However he said he only has 4000-5000 to play with so looks like he is gonna have to go the cheaper route but risk reliablity. I have seen the higher horse power sohcs hold well for some time so at the same time don;t be discouraged.
