Vtec or no?

hey guys, need some opinions..

I have a 91 Civic HB which I am putting in an H series. Why? because you will never see that where I live..

BUT my question is.. should I keep my H23 non Vtec to build? Or spend more money and try to get a H22 Vtec?

Either way the engine will be torn down and build from scratch, than turboed. Let me know what you guys think..

Or if you have an H22 for sale..

ya it can be done, but I would have to get the block drilled and such for the Vtec.. easier to just get the block itself..

i was unaware the block had to be drilled for the H23 vtec swap.....

is it not the same as the b-series vtec swap?

no I beleive you have to cross drill holes in the block for the oil? or so I have been told in other forums..

Like is that Vtec really worth it? It will be turboed and be pushing 400+ hp..

I am not worried about fuel economy.. I just want to know if the Vtec will make that big of a difference on a street/some drag car pushin over 400 hp?

Vtec will really help but is not necessary. Now to get that 400hp out of either will require a tear down, building with the best parts(forged) and throwing alot of boost at it. Good Luck.
Personally i would go with the h22

Yes, the engine will be torn completely down and rebuilt with good QUALITY parts.. I just cant decide if I should purchase an H22 and do it, or stay with my H23.

you think? cuz i beleive that the Vtec wont make that much of a difference in a boosted 91 HB pushing aprox 450 whp.. would it?

The vetc has like 190 horse, and the h23 160, the h23 does have more torque. Id say just stick with the h23 if your boosting it. 30 more horse power wont make much of a difference i dont think.
