don't. get another car. The biggest problem is the automatic part. You can spend some money putting on headers, exhaust system, etc etc but it will be a waste of money because anybody can just buy a different car that is faster out of the factory. I think that if you want a fast car it is easier and better to start with a fast car. Then you can make it even faster with the after market parts. Racing and cars in general is a hobby and a very expensive one at that. The guy with the most money usually wins. Plus the more you modify your car the more likely it is to break. It is not just a matter of adding better parts but there is also an upkeep. My advice is to start with a car that has a manual transmision. Also, let this car be one of those that people have previously modified. This will make it easier to find aftermarket parts. I would then do half and half. By this I mean yes, make your car faster but also make it look good. Racing is a never ending hobby. You will be modifying your car constantly and it will be expensive. I would be best to spend that money in something else. Maybe a house or some sort of investment. You see a car is worth crap. No matter how much you spend on it you will never get that money back. Lets say you buy $7,000 used car. You put on it $10,000 worth of aftermarket. Well, if you did not have the $10,000 at one shot this means that a few years must have gone by before you finally put on the $10,000 on it. By that time the car might be worth $1,000. SO, you have spent $17,000 on a car that is only worth $1,000. So, maybe you can sell it for $3,000 but why would I want to do that. Why would anybody buy and old race car that will be very likely to break. I mean if its a race car it must have taken a beating. It is simply a bad investment.

Don't forget a big wing on the back to take away traction from those useless front wheels.
