the mileage on your car is displayed on your dashboard, usually near the spedometer.

Just above your steering wheel is a bunch of little numbers in a row...The last one forces the others into changing eventually...This group of numbers is what makes up your odometer, which tracks the miles your car has been driven....Ya got that???

The mileage meter are located inside the speedometer together with the rest of others meters or indicators on your dashboard. Located normarlly right behind the steering wheel or at the centre (Newer models) of the dashboard. The mileage metres normally are Analog type in the older models. The newer / latest model uses Digital type. Please bear in mind that the mileage reading is only for the total mileage record of the vehicle has travel and not the engine.Everytime when the engine are under idling speed, each minute of idiling time are equalvalant to if I am not mistaken is about 5 Kilometres. Therefore, if your mileage meter reads 100km and the engine was at idling speed for 5 minutes.5 Minutes x 5 Km = 25KmThe actual mileage of the engine was 100Km + 25Km = 125 Km.That's why, some mechanic will recommend you to change your Timing-belt / Chain once your car Mileage meters reach between 70,000 Km to 80,000 Km. Instead of wait till it reaches 100,000Km.Once the Timing-belt / Chain gave way, the cost of repairing the damages done was quite expensive or sometimes it can caused severed damages to your engine. Especially when the Timing-belt / Chain snapped and causes the Intake / Exhale valve to break and falls in to the piston / cyclinder which then pushes the broken metal pieces to knocked in to the cyclinder assembly. It could damage the cam-shaft as well (The cam-shaft are directly related with the working mechanism of the Intake and Exhale valves of the engine). You can see how it works if the rocker cover was removed from the running engine (Of couse it should be only done by the experience mechanic).Hope to have informed you well. Cheers - Kelvin Yap.

if you bought a used motor, ask for the vin # and run it on carfax to have the last recorded mileage.
