2001 Honda Civic Transmission problems?

2001 Honda Civic Transmission problems?
I have a 2001 honda civic with a maual transmission. Today it started slipping out of 5th gear and continued doing so. Does anyone know what is causing this? The shift **** moved on its own and went into the neutral position.
