95 honda civic LX engine problem?

ok this is weird i got a 95 honda civic LX automatic transmission. i was going down the road and it started acting like it was out of gas and it stopped accelerating but it had a full tank so i pulled over and turned it off now it wont start, well it will turn over and act like its gonna start but it wont fire so it never starts and I've checked the fuel pump and filter they are working fine so i don't know what else to do. any ideas?o yeah we think it might be the distributor think that could be it?

I had a 95 civic hatchback. my 2nd favorite car.. harvard blue. It was my alternator. But you said yours turns over so that rules out the starter, battery and alternator. You've checked out the fuel pump and filter. belt maybe?

ok first off you need 2 poeple for this test. start by taking one spark plug wire out and geting a long screw driver stick that in the spark plug wire where the sprak plug is normaly and hold that about a 1/4 inch from the engine. now have the second person inside the car turn the key over. what you are looking for is the spark. you must do this to everyone and if everyone gives off a spark then its not the distributor.if its not that try taking out the mass air flow sensor and starting the engine if it works with it out then you nedd to clean it or replace it. good luck.
