A/C Car Trouble 2001 Honda Civic LX *A/C Blowing Out Hot Air*?

My heater works great but my A/C is acting up. im hesitating going to a shop affraid theyll charge me something outrageous and take advantage of me for 1 me not knowing any better and 2 me being female. lol. but my brother checked the coolant level (?) and said that it was fine and that there wasnt a leak. if i listen real hard and try to turn it on i hear the fan (?) try to turn and sound dirty or turning slow (?). i guess im looking for some suggestions on what could be wrong but better yet an answer. please help i would love to know what was wrong and about how much it would cost before i go to a shop. thank you for the help and taking the time to read this. and

It sounds like your A/C needs a re-gas. It should only cost you between $70 - $100 depending where you go. Good luck.

Why buy the bull when you can get the service for free.

There could be any number of things that would cause this problem. If a stone hit your condenser that could cause a leak.Mechanics do not single out women anymore because that would reduce their scam fifty percent.Once I was told I needed a compressor so I left and went elsewhere and all it needed was a recharge.

Your brother should know how to work a manifold gauge instead of a nintendo.Never pay a mechanic to check your car just go find out their opinion and report back.Ask for high and low gauge readings which they can write on the estimate. The ghetto way to fix the car would be a refill kit from the auto parts store but this still needs some basic experience.
