can you cut a piece out of a stock civic bumper to make a big exhaust

fit better, if so is it hard or anything if you have a big muffler and a stock civic bumper and with the big muffler on, the muffler looks like it would hit the cround, is it possible to cut a piece out of the stock bumper for a custom looking fit and if so is it easy to do, like will it ruin the whole bumper, if anybody has pics of cars with that done to it, put a link to them
