EX has VTEC, DX dosn't but you really didn't give me enough details to explain wich is better. Do you want Naturally asperated or forced induction? What are your goals for the car?

The Civic EX would be better due to the vtec engine. Get yourself an Si, comes with more power than the EX stock and will have even more power once it's customized.

just get a si.. the money you spend on fixing up the ex & dx will get you a si already and by the time you r done fixing it up, it'll just be as strong as a si.. i own 2 si.. they r great cars..
