Do I need new brakes???

I just briefly heard grinding brake sound when first pulling out of driveway. I have a '02 Honda Civic EX and just bought this car a week ago...It only did it once (so I definitely thought it needed brakes) but now am reading others on this site say things could get into the brakes (i.e. pebbles, salt rock). It only did it one time when pulling out of driveway. Should I wait and see or immediately take it in for a look? Thx P.S. this car is under a bumper-to-bumper warranty

No way to tell from just grinding noises. Take the wheel off and look at the pad. There is a wear indicator (a gap) down the center of the pad. If there is no gap in the pad, or the pad is down to nothing, time for a brake job.
