H22 Vtec swap (Honda Prelude) or new car?

Basicly im running a F22 (140hp SOHC) baseline 'S" model engine on a 1994 Honda Prelude with 62k miles. My wonder is if switching it over to a H22 Vtec motor would be seriously worth it. I've heard from 5-7grand is the lowest, and I DO NOT currently have a manual tranny. So rather then doing a h22 swap (even though I love my Prelude) I was thinking of doing a down payment on a 08 Civic Si or just even buying a new car with equal horsepower. I love the Prelude and I love Honda's..but I also adore the new Civic.. so theres my question.
