LX is a higher trim than the DX model, the DX is a stripped down version of the LX, and on the other end there is also the EX which is a higher trim model with more features. The DX typically has manual windows and manual door locks and more commonly have a manual transmission. Depending on the year of the Civic it may not have a ciggarette lighter either, my 91 Standard does not. The Standard version of the 88 - 91 Civic also only has a 4 speed manual instead of the 5 that comes on the DX but mine has been converted to 5. Depending on what year you are looking at your trim models can include:

Standard

DX

CX

HF

LX

EX

Si

SiR

and others
