How about a Honda?

I've found a 1999 Honda Civic for $6,995 4 cyl automatic 125,136 miles. Is this a good deal? I've heard Hondas run forever. Is this young for a Honda?

I'd say with that price range and the fairly high amount of miles that it is a little too pricey. Maybe try to haggle down or find a car with less mileage? If the car has been well taken care of, and such over the years it should be fine. I have a 97 honda accord and it has around 120,000 miles on it, it's still running great.

The average is about 14 thousand miles a year on that vehicle which is pretty high. However, more likely than not they are highway miles.

Hondas do run "forever." 125k miles isn't necessarily young depending on the previous owner(s) maintenance records (which you should obtain if possible). With a quality maintenance record you can expect around 200k miles of life if not more. A lot also has do do with the type of driver that you are and how frequently it has been maintained. The body will probably be in rough shape when you get into the 200k mile plus range, but it could still run fine.

I recommend bringing the car into Honda Mechanic (not a dealership), and ask request them to inspect the car.

As for the price. It seems a bit high, but you didn't specify a model. For all I know the car is a Civic SI with Electric Blue Paint and performance modifications.

Take a look at the Kelly Blue Book Value to help you make a determination of price reasonableness. (kbb.com)

Good luck!
