like most mechanical things, it all depends on how well it's maintained. It's not unusual in this day and age, for a car, especially a Honda, to be on the road with 300 to 400,000 miles on them. If you service the mechanical parts regularly, and take care of the body (for rust prevention) you could be driving that bad boy for 10 more years!!

The '98 Civic w/ the 1.6l engine is perhaps the best Honda has ever made! We have a '97 that just passed over 680,000 miles. It still gets 42mpg and drives like a champ. Make sure you use good quality oil & filter at service time. Buy good quality gas and use an additive during the winter time and it should last quite a bit of time. Also, don't forget to change the timing belt, water pump & tensioner!!!!! Honda's have an interference engine and if the belt brakes- it's always bad news. A bent valve at the very least. Certainly worth doing if it hasn't been done already.

Hope this info helps you.

all depends on how you take care of it. after a certain time you will have to replace the small things that should go wrong with every car
