Nice car, but no match to the Audi A3 2.0T in terms of build quality and performance.

Quick car with a bit of boy racer street cred.

However, my mate has one and has two niggles with his.

Firstly a small problem that winds him up is that every time you pop the seat forward to access the rear seats, the front seat loses its last setting, so you have to set up your driving position every time someone gets in and out of the back.

Secondly, even during normal driving, pootling around town, that revvy vtec engine makes you sound like you're trying to set a fast lap on a track. Because of the way the engine produces its power at high revs compared to most cars, when you set off from the lights or a junction, it sounds like you are revving the nuts off it, as if you want to beat the car next to you.

No major problems, but thought I'd let you know.

Type r is great fun. If you like the sound of the engine going up to over 8000rpm, and the feel that you are actually driving the car, then its for you.

I would go for a 2004 facelift model, because you get new lights, slightly bigger body kit, and a lighter flywheel than the earlier ones and indicators in the mirrors. (amongst other things)

the Civic Type R is a great, fast car, top speed of 146mph! but if it was me i think the Ford Focus RS or ST is a better value for money
