Where Is The Speedometer Cable/Speed Sensor On A 92 Honda Civic LX???

So here's the problem: My '92 Honda Civic LX has a speedometer with a mind of its own. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it'll be doing the hula, sometimes it's steady but most definitely reading at the wrong speed (120mph when I'm doing 40mph).The Odometer and tripometer (the one with the button to reset) work Great! I know the problem is either the speedometer cable or the speed sensor, but where on the car are they located? I'm fairly handy with cars, but this is a new one for me, so please help me out with it.Thanks,--Lee Ann

If the odometer is actually working correctly, then you may have to replace the speedometer but it may be that the cable is dry inside the sheith so it is jumping the needle. If you have an actual cable, and the miles law probably requires it, it is connected to the back of the speedometer and makes its way down to the drive train behind the transmission. If you can get at the back of the speedometer, it comes off with a round nut and you can add lubricant, perhaps by pulling the drive wire.
