Why are civics so popular?

I found a similar question, but all the answers were by people who complemented those rice-burners. Three points I have:

1. If you want to race, wouldn't you want a car that has more hp than a lawnmower?

2. Don't you want your car to be unique? So why buy a car that has "aftermarket" parts at Wal-Mart?

3. Don't you live in America? Or do we suddenly love the country that bombed Pearl Harbor? We nuked Japan, and I think they are getting back at us with anime and their car imitations. For now, at least, we say the pledge of allegiance to the USA flag, not the rising sun.

America has the cheapest gas in the world, and we are the richest country. I wish people would stop complaining.

And I think you mean ******* stupid, the four letter version is not an adjective.

I wish more people would have paid attention to the fact that in the Fast and the Furious, Brian had to NOS just to keep up with the awesome American powerhouse. In 2, they had to cheat to beat the beautiful American muscle. And in Tokyo, what body won the race? A MUSTANG!

"If you want the civic comparison to an American car its the faggy cavalier"

Maybe true. What is the japanese comparison to the Shelby Mustang GT500? Or the Blue Devil Corvette? Or the Dodge Viper? Answer: NONE.

Those cars could beat those rice-burners in reverse. (DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS)

I'm spitting in her face by advising people on how to spend their money? Then all commercials spit in America's face. (I am not being paid by the Big Three to advertise though)

1. If a japanese man craps in America, it is still a japanese turd.

2. Why are the Big Three losing (not loosing) money? And why do they have to export to save money? Because japan comes along and destroys our economy.

3. Yes, the Mustang had a Nissan engine. If it had an American engine, it would have been too powerful to drift race (as if you can call swerving and skidding "racing").

4. You and your car are among the extremely few (assuming you have not lied). The main reason I have learned that people don't drive their muscles on a day to day basis, is, to quote Bruce Almighty "All this horsepower and nowhere to gallop!"

I tire of the arguments, so here is my closing statement. You may believe what you want, and drive whatever you want, but if I pull up next to you at a stoplight and we both shoot off when it turns green, my engine's growl will speak for itself. As you see my taillights, trivial things like gas mileage, resale value, ease of upgrading, and price all dissapear. As you smell my exhaust, the only thing that matters is that my 100% American car has just smoked your 100% rice burner.

I think that civics are so popular because they look cool

but they are the most stolen car and there a really expensive car especially if it is a hybrid all and all it's a cool car and it's a good family car.

because there cheap. takes alot of money to get a honda into 10's or 11's but iv had a few in the 12's for very cheap. a 12 second daily driver that gets 30mpg for under 4k doesnt sound bad to me. dont get me wrong, my lt1 transam was fun too... but my honda spanked it.

its all power to weight ratio buddy

I have drive Pickup Trucks my whole driving life. *9 years* So I'm still somewhat young enough to answer this question.

I test drove a 06 Civic after their redesign.

I am 6 feet tall, and the car has enough head room.

The car felt like a glove wrapped around me.

The car was very responsive and very VERY Comunicative about the vehicle/road. And the base motor was down right spunky. *going from a 05 F.150 with the 5.4 liter, that was saying something!*

The car just oozed "COOL" From that instrument cluster, felt like I was in K.I.T.T.

It looks pretty cool to.

It has a very very good crash test rating, SUPURBE Reliability, and relatibley low ownership cost. and it's easy to part ANYWHERE.

And like you mentioned, their is a HUGE Aftermarked crowd for the vehicle, even at walmart. ***I HATE THE NOISEY MUFFLERS THAT SOUND WEAK! GIVE ME A HEMI EXHAUST NOTE!***

But I am with you their. Why buy a $24,000.00 car and put $30,000.00 into it to outrun a $55,000.00 Corvette when you could just buy the Vett and keep the waranty!?!

NOW! I'm not all praise, I didn't buy it after all.

It's small! It feels great driving, but cargo room is much smaller then other cars about the same size, such as a Cobalt. *Go Chevy!* And it's a lot lower to the ground then say a Focus which made it hard to get in and out of. *Woo Hoo, I DRIVE FORD!... Escape, needed more cargo room unfortunatley... And I had to pull a trailer, a lite one.*

They are one of the top 5 most stoled/broked into vehicles in the country EVERY YEAR!

and not to mention, EVERYBODY HAS ONE!

Final counterpoint, they feel like the engineers really wanted to please you. The seats were perfect, the dash felt high quality, and the shifter was OOoooh... So sweet! It just felt like somebody stayed up at night thinking about the little details. Compared to my mom's old cavaliers, these were soild gold! The cavalier, a good car, but very cheep. Lousy ride, no feeling in the controls, lousy motor *Pre 2002's.* So even tough I'm all for Detroit, if I was to buy a small car for myself and not worrying about passengers/cargo, the Civic would be top on my list. ***I would stay away from the Corolla, to dowdy according to motor trend and car and driver .

P.S. hondab16tuner - That statment about the F.150 is not true. The Tundra did not outsell the F.150, not by a margine. The F Series *Abiet, F.250's 350's and the like also* Sell at nealry a million a year. The Tundra's sales capacity is in the 500,000 range. It may be Truck of the Year for Motor Trend, but it is not the sales champ.

Peace.

here is the deal i have owned mitsubishi, 2 fords, 5 or 6 chevys, toyota, and a honda. dont get me wrong i love chevys but hondas are reliable as hell. I was getting 39 to the gallon(cant beat that) it looked good and was quick enough(the only parts i bought at walmart was wiper blades and oil) soooo think cost of ownership and resale value.

I don't know why either. Civics suck! Any foreign-made automobile is a piece of plastic crap. Cheaply built forever! It takes true American muscle to make a car! I refuse to buy an import. I've drove them...and they suck! I have only owned American-made cars. They seem to have a better quality all the way around. They last longer, look better, and have better statistics all the way around. I absolutely back you 100% on this topic! It's an absolute disgrace to see these clunking pieces of plastic buzzing down the road. At least people like you and myself have the knowledge of vehicles to know what a real car is! Keep up the good work! I am sure that there are plenty of people like us out there that feel the same way. Some people are just ignorant. Jap-crap should be vanished forever!

Q: If you want to race, wouldn't you want a car that has more hp than a lawnmower?

A: Would you use a soccer ball to play a basket ball? A stock civic is designed to serve basic family transportation needs. It has a very good gas mileage, reliability and resale value. PLUS, civic is one of many cars that is easily customized, tuned and modified to produce more than 500hp for much cheaper than the full price of a Dodge Viper.

Q: Don't you want your car to be unique? So why buy a car that has "aftermarket" parts at Wal-Mart?

A: It prooves my first point that Civic is obviously easily modded. However, car enthusiast (aka racer) will not waste their extra buck$$$ on an aftermarket products. There are many high quality products such as HKS, K&N, neuspeed, etc.... I feel sorry for your lack of knowledge.

Q: Don't you live in America? Or do we suddenly love the country that bombed Pearl Harbor? We nuked Japan, and I think they are getting back at us with anime and their car imitations. For now, at least, we say the pledge of allegiance to the USA flag, not the rising sun.

A: Don't you know most of toyotas and hondas are now built in USA? go to dealer website look at their inventory and find the VIN number. For toyota it will say something 1TN4.... and for honda it will say 1HGC.... the first digit explains the country code: 1=USA,2=CANADA,3=MEXICO,J=JAPAN, etc... Now, look at your Ford or Chevy car they might be made in Mexico now. Dropped your jaw already?

Q: Maybe true. What is the japanese comparison to the Shelby Mustang GT500? Or the Blue Devil Corvette? Or the Dodge Viper? Answer: NONE.

A: WRONG!!!! Nissan Nismo Skyline GT R34, Toyota Castrol Supra Twin Turbo and many more. Think about it: if their technology allow you to produce more HP from a 3.0 V6 engine, why would you burn your money on gasoline? I guess you would also use your extra money to burn some "rice".

Additionally, who's currently dominating the Formula 1 championship which is obviously a good place for engine ultimate testing and showdown? Toyota, Honda, BMW, AMG Mercedez, or may be Renault. Sadly, there's no Ford, nor chevy, nor dodge. Why? go find the answer yourself.

Quoted from wikipedia: "In 2007 the Heat Treatments Drag Skyline GT-R driven by Reece McGregor of New Zealand, broke the world record for the fastest AWD over a 1/4 mile with a 7.57 at 305.96 km/h (190.11 mph) at the Willowbank Dragway in Australia, a record previously held by the HKS Skyline GT-R with a 7.67"

My statement: looking at the past will never move you forward!!!!! So wake up from your stupidity, ignorance and prejudice. It's globalization and free market era, so grow up; learn from it, invent something nice for the future and STOP nagging, crying and complaining like a little baby girl.
