Why does it seem 1997 civic ex runs better and faster with 93 gas in it.?

Why does it seem 1997 civic ex runs better and faster with 93 gas in it.?

I works very well with the vtec, no hesitation, no pings all the way up to 8,000 rpms. Why does everyone say gas rating doesn't matter in a civic, when it clearly makes a difference.

It might be smoother but it's slower with higher octane. Try it in a zero to 80 test and mark the spot with a tree on the side of the road.
