Will a Honda Civic SI (coupe) 2007 Ipod stereo hook up work in a 2006 model SI?

I have a 2006 Civic SI and called the delearship about getting an Ipod compatible stereo. I was informed that the Ipod hook up was not available on the 2006 model but that there is an option available for the 2007. However they couldn't gurantee the 2007 stereo would work in my 2006. So, before I spend money, hoping the 2007 will work in my car, does anyone have any info. regarding this issue? Thanks a bunch!
