01 ody. tranny goes out , poor dealer help
Hello I have been a lurker here every since I bought my ody in march 01.
I purchased the honda care warranty after seeiing so many post about
tranny problems. I kept mine serviced, no hard take offs, set parking
brake everytime I parked, did no do a bit of good. At 52k miles its
sitting at my **** poor dealer waiting on a new tranny. Here were the
symptoms, At 700 miles I started hereing the famous deasiling sound at
1500 rpm or 48 mph. I lived with this anoyance unttil dealer replaced
the ECU at 33,000. The fix lasted about 2 weeks then came back and I
said the hell with it. Last week started hearing the nosie at ALL
speeds, sounded like a diesiling or howling sound. I took it to dealer
this morning (one day before our vacation) and was told at lunch it
needed a new tranny, something about a valve body? I told the uncarring
sevice manager that when I bought the van the sales mangager promised
me a loaner in the event of a overnite repair(which they did the first
few months after I bought it) and was told they did not do that anymore
nor would honda furnish me a rental, I called the sales manager 3 times
and left message and no return call. I then got the saleperson who I
purchased the van from and he admitted they did tell me that, would call
me back in10 minutes, that was 8 hours ago.I cant belive the luck Im
having with mini-van trannys heres my last 5
01 ody tranny at 52k
00 sienna tranny at 900 miles
98 ford junkstar tranny at 22k and 36 k
95 nissan quest tranny at 19k
91 dodge tranny at 33k and 60k
I dont know what to buy next but it sure as h@@l wont be a mini-van of
any kind. With my twins we have to have a largr vehicle and wife does
not like SUV because to gas mpg. I knew when I set foot on the dealer
lot i was in for a nitemare, I would put mine up against any dealer in
the country as being the WORST! The closest other to me is 80 miles
away, in Jacksoville fla or Valdosta Ga, What a way to start my
vacation. oh BTW the dealer says the reason honda wont pay for me a
rental is because my van is still drivable. there is no way In taking
off on a long trip in a vehicle Im unsure of. Any of you honda techs
thinks its ok to drive on a 1000 miles trip till my new tranny gets here
monday? Also no lights came on either, no flashing D4 or tcc light. Im
no even sure Itrust there diagnosis, anyway just wanted to vent

But you have HondaCare, right?
Call the American Honda Motor Corp. customer hotline; find the numbers
at http://www.odyclub.com/customer.html and maybe use the one near you
if you're having problems with the dealer taking care of a HondaCare
situation.

See if HondaCare offers that as part of the contract. Get your contract
out and read it.
