A very specific sequence of events is required:

Get in your car.
Insert key in ignition and start it.
Put it in gear and move forward or backward a few feet (do this, but
probably not necessary).

Stop.
Shut the car off and remove the key from the ignition.
WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING (SUCH AS THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH), get out and close
the door.

Watch it for a few minutes...it might take longer than 30 seconds.

No. The security system realizes I walked away and forgot to lock the car
and locks it. My Acura (which is a Honda) RSX did exactly the same thing.

I'll try that. You very well may be right, since I always lock out of habit
anyway.......
