2000 Odyssey Alarm problem
OK, try this one...
Our 2000 Odyssey dealer in Texas installed alarm (kit no
08E51-SOX-100) keeps going off at 2:00am or thereabouts. Most
instances the indicator light says "glass breakage" (blinks that many
times when checked--I haven't checked every time or recently). The
literature the dealer gave us about the alarm says it has a glass
breakage detector, too.
But car got broken into last year. Glass smashed and bag grabbed.
Alarm never went off. Dealer in WA state says that the alarm doesn't
have glass breakage sensor.
Anyway, the thing keeps going off for no apparent reason. I know that
I need to take it into the dealer with the "operating instructions"
booklet and ask more questions...but WTF? Two questions:
1. Why does this alarm keep going off at 2:00am?
2. Does it or does it not have glass breakage sensing?
I know, I know...take it to the dealer. But does anyone have similar
experiences or knowledge of the alarm system?
Thanks.

Re: 2000 Odyssey Alarm problem
On my 2000 Odyssey EX I was having a like problem. I solved it by
turning down the sensitivity of the alarm. I think this controls the
gain of the mic that alarms to glass breakage. Now it might not alarm
to glass breakage, but it doesn't go off in the middle of the night
any more. The control pot was buried deep in the dash above the
steering column. I hope this is some help.On Sat, 13 Nov 2004 07:35:24

Re: 2000 Odyssey Alarm problem
Not the same car by any means, but a number of Prius owners have the same
problem. The fix is as hardtstein describes - locate the sensitivity pot and
adjust it. In the Prius the alarm is tested by pounding the heel of the hand
on the "A" pillar between the windshield and the driver's door. Don't pound
on the glass!
