2001 EGR issues
I had the EGR kit installed on my 01 EXV6 at about 70K. Now my good friend
had her Check Engine light come on twice now and pulled a P0401 code. I
have reset the code. I called the dealer and they have to "See" the code to
determine what is wrong. I didn't have to go through this crap the last
time, they said they knew about it and just fixed it.
She only has 5k left on the 80k emissions warranty and I'm hoping it does it
again soon.
Wish there was a way to MAKE it come on, as I hate to see her get a $450
bill for that install.
Anyone have this kit installed AFTER 80k and have the dealer pick it up?

G-Man,
I am on your side on this issue but there are lots of stupid people in the
world and some of they work for your friend's dealership. I suggest that
you just check the code in the future but don't reset it. That should keep
you and your friend from having any more arguments with people at the
dealership.

That's the plan, I'm sure it's coming back, but you know how it is, i.e. it
never makes that "Noise" when you get it to the dealer.
Hopefully it will stay on long enough to get it there. I had a Rodeo once
that kept throwing a code (I didn't have a scanner) and every time they said
okay, bring it in, it would reset the code before they could scan it. This
went on for MONTHS!
Eventually it threw the code that said (engine misfire) Duh, I could have
told them that without the code :-)
It was a bad injector. But the code really told them nothing.

Re: 2001 EGR issues
Even if the light goes back off the code is still in the memory. It doesn't
get reset by itself...

What was the amount of kilometres or miles that were on the car, when it
first registered the code?
