2004 Civic Poor Heating
 

Has anyone had experience with really poor interior heating in a 04
Civic ?

The thermostat is working fine, and the vents are blowing warm air
it's just the output to the floor is very low.

The dealers service advisor checked and said the flow was working fine
and that his civic was the same.

The heater is just not as good as in my older accord.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

You have to drive it to warm it up . . . and maybe the '04 has a cabin
filter? I don't know about newer Civics.

You have to drive it to warm it up . . . and maybe the '04 has a cabin
filter? I don't know about newer Civics.

it hasn't hit the -35 in Atlantic Canada yet... but if it does the
problem will be worse. Has the heater always worked well in yours or
did the dealer have to do something ??

In this case, as I mentioned, the car itself is at normal operating
temperature... all the "upper vents" provide lots of warm air, it's
just the ones for the floor that have little air flow and very little
heat.

If you express an interest in a 2005 on the sales floor, you can test drive
one and see if the heater is better than in your car. If not, you can
believe the service advisor. Otherwise, he's got some 'splainin' to do.

Until you get the problem fixed, don't use the floor vents. It's my guess
that there is something inside the floor vents that is blocking or
interfering with the flow of the air. It would probably take a lot of work
and time to examine all areas of the floor venting system. If I were in
your shoes, I would just learn to live with the problem. Make plans to buy
a newer or new car in the near future.

Seriously, though, in the problem car it is quite possible the air mix box
is out of whack. I bet the car is under warranty and the service advisor
doesn't want to bother with it - he's hoping it will go away.

Seriously, though, in the problem car it is quite possible the air mix box
is out of whack. I bet the car is under warranty and the service advisor
doesn't want to bother with it - he's hoping it will go away.
