Break instead of brake is a far bigger error than missing a keystroke.
Having said that, there are many other errors in the post you are replying
to.

It seems to me that IF several vehcle manufacturers made cars that would

You're correct, of course. My point was that to start a gasoline
engine many times, the starter has to be more durable than a regular
starter. In fact, the Prius uses one of its motor-generators as a
starter. I was just using hybrids as an example of engines that may
have more durable starters than normal engines. Not all hybrids have
engines that stop at stoplights, and not all hybrids are able to be
driven on battery power alone, either. It depends on the car or truck.

It is just a typo. Dont get your panties in a wad.

Not entirely true. While it doesn't matter a whit if your car is
garged in Austin in August, a car parked in the driveway in Indy in
February might benefit from a little run in to get the oil "up to
temp". But not long.

>
>Fuel Efficiency Tip #2 Don't Ride the Break Many drivers hit the break more often than is necessary. Additionally there are quite a few drivers that slow down for a braking car when they could easily switch lanes. Not riding the break can increase your fuel efficiency by up to 30%, so this is a great tip you should follow.

Right. Switching lanes is likely to get you whacked if you aren't
looking. And if you are looking while the guy ahead is braking, you
could whack him when his braking goes from drag to stomp.

But you can back peddle and still keep your distance.

And, for such an automotive expert, it's "brake", not "break".

#3 is kind of right, but #4 is off by a bunch. The numbers are
usually around 2 minutes. If you're idling for 8 minutes you're
tossing a bunch of money out the tailpipe.

The 5 minute rule used to apply when US cars were 300+ CID V8s with
four barrel carbs.

The few times I hit fast "food" joints, I've found myself walking in,
ordering, paying, grabbing the bag and walking out before the 'Burb
that came in behind me gets to the window.

I could have sworn that one of the imports had such a system. Sube?

You might look up "typo" and consider if it might apply.

My Ford Escort's starter konked at 25,000 miles with a big short, and
the windings were coated with powder from the brushes.

The post office made letter carriers turn off the engine at every mail
box, and a few times a year our carrier would have to wait for a jump
start. Apparently they weren't allowed to accept jump starts from the
public. This is the same post office that had its trucks use snow
tires throughout the year, even here in Phoenix.

It snows in Phoenix THAT often, eh? Must be global warming. Sarcasm switch
now switched to OFF.

Older carb systems used more gas to start the car. Fuel injection
systems with automatic choke no longer require one to push the gas
pedal when starting.
