89 accord crankshaft bolt Left or right hand thread.
I'm trying to replace the timing belt in my old 89 accord lxi and the crank
bolt wont budge. I tried the impact wrench as well as using the starter to turn it over. before grabbing my biggest breaker bar and turning the bolt weather it wants to move or not I figured I better ask one stupid question first. Is the bolt a normal right hand thread or is it a left hand/reverse thread? It has been 10 years since I had it off and knowing me I probably put locktite on it but before I get rough with it I figured I would check with the experts? Any informat is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Steve |

On my 91 Civic, it's Lefty Lousy. I was able to loosen the bolt with an
impact gun. Re: 89 accord crankshaft bolt Left or right hand thread.
You probably figured out already that you in fact put lock-tite on it last
time, but for anyone else that's interested it has a regular right hand thread. The special washers are key. An impact wrench should spin it off easily. It only goes on with 83 ft-lbs, about the same as steel rim.
