96 Accord LX Front Rotor Removal ???
 

There are four bolts on the front rotors (besides the studs). Will the
rotor come off after removing these? My '91 had the rotors pressed on.
Looks like I can get these off myself. Correct?

Do a search on dejanews.com and you will find much discussion on your
question. You need to take that big hub nut off which is torqued
around 200 lbs I think. I'd like to know if anyone has done it with
hand tools.

Newer models of accords are more servicable.

I tried to remove that hub nut with a hydraulic floor jack under a
ratchet wrench, and all I managed to do was break the wrench. I tried it
with a regular fixed wrench, and when it started to bend I gave up.
Because once you remove than nut off, the rotor is still pressed in, so
you need an extractor to pull it out.

It ended up costing me CAD$150 in labour at my mechanic, and even he
complained that one of the rotors was a pain to take off, it was THAT
stuck...

I tried to remove that hub nut with a hydraulic floor jack under a

Looks like the bastard is pressed on. Off to the shop if I have to replace
them :-)

Haven't measured them, but 146k on the car and they've never been replaced.
They don't pulse, so I may just go new pads.

Sure is easier on my 2001 EX V6, they rotors come right off!

Looks like the bastard is pressed on. Off to the shop if I have to replace
them :-)

Haven't measured them, but 146k on the car and they've never been replaced.
They don't pulse, so I may just go new pads.

On my '99 they're held on by two phillips screws, but I couldn't get
these screws off. I took the entire hub off and had a local auto parts
shop with a machine shop remove them for $10 a piece. Give that a
shot. Good luck.

You could have bought an impact driver (about CAD$30 for a really good
one). After breaking my fingers for half an hour trying to loosen up
those screws on my 01 Prelude SE, I gave up and bought the impact
driver. It literally took 5 seconds to take out each screw.

The impact driver works in reverse as well, tightening the screws far
better than with your bare hands. And because of the way it works, there
is no chance of stripping the screw.
