any recent recalls on Honda cars
Someone told me that they heard a very recent news report in regard to the recall related to certain Honda cars. If you heard or read such a report, would you tell us which models are effected and what the problem is with those vehicles. I only found one web site that you was helpful but it does not have info about current recalls the web site is http://www.recalldata.org |

None were 2003 models. Had to do with the key being able to be removed while the car is in gear. When I saw that neither my nor my husband's vehicles are affected, I kinda stopped paying close attention. -- -Barb (www.jamlady.eboard.com updated 10-16-03; check the PickleHats tab, too.) |

Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
Robertson Honda notified me on 10/31/03 that there is a recall on the
emission systems for my 1997 Honda Accord LX. I took it in on 11/04/03 and the emission system was upgraded. According to Honda Headquarters, recalls are done via VIN's once it is determined that "vehicles" within a specified production are affected. My previous recalls showed up at the owners link off the Honda web site. Of course you have to sign up there to be notified "Bill B. Johnson" <billbjohnson555@nospamhotmail.com> wrote in message news:billbjohnson555-0411031208160001@pm5-broad-74.snlo.dialup.fix.net... > > Someone told me that they heard a very recent news report > in regard to the recall > related to certain Honda cars. Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
the new model CRV's has one recall and one product update, a shifter cable
update and a throttle cable recall. The 2003 Accords have two also. One is a air intake system update and the other is a trans update where a "no-reverse" condition can apparently occur if you should happen to be caught in snow and you try to rock the vehicle free by using forward and reverse concurrently over and over again. The Emissions warranty that the Shardey Inc fella was referring to is this: on the 1995 v6 accord and all 1996 and 1997 Honda models they have an extended warranty on the emissions system ( a deal Honda made with the Federal Gov rather than recalling all those vehicles). Apparently the on board diagnosis (OBD II) emission systems of those years only did not meet federal regulations at that time. So for instance, any time the "check engine" light comes on and stays active on these models , you have a 99.5% chance that it will be covered under that extended warranty which is 14 years 150,000 miles whichever occurs first. Items like oxygen sensors, cat converters, coil paks, ecu, pcm and so on. In addition Honda will perform certain free checks on the emission system at certain mileges and also replace the distributor cap, rotor, wires and plugs along with an oil change absolutely free. This warranty travels with the vehicle no matter who owns it at the time. If you have moved since you purchased your Honda or are a new owner of a used Honda contact your local Honda dealer and ask for the number for American Honda Motors, call them and have them update your info and or let them know you are the new owner so that you can receive any recall info and or product updates "Bill B. Interesting. The shift interlock broke on my 99 accord last year. I
finally got it fixed at the dealer last month for $250. Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
Interesting. The shift interlock broke on my 99 accord last year. I
finally got it fixed at the dealer last month for $250. Now that it's an official recall, anyone know how to apply for reimbursement? -Saul "Melba's Jammin'" <barbschaller@earthfink.net> wrote in message news:barbschaller-FBA8DB.16351005112003@News.CIS.DFN.DE... > In article > <billbjohnson555-0411031208160001@pm5-broad-74.snlo.dialup.fix.net>, > billbjohnson555@nospamhotmail.com (Bill B. Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
There should be instructions on how to apply for reimbursement included in
the recall letter you will (eventually) be getting from Honda. On 11/8/03 7:13 AM, in article WZ5rb.2700$bQ3.2562@nwrdny03.gnilink.net, "Saul Bendersky" <spam@verizon.net> wrote: > Interesting. Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
Hi,
My '98 Honda Accord was recently recalled due to problems with the safetybelts in the backseats. One of them had to be replaced. The front seats belts where also checked (just to be sure). ---------------- Wim van der Vegt "Bill B. Re: any recent recalls on Honda cars
American Honda Recalls Vehicles to Replace Ignition Switches
Certain 1997 to 2000 Honda and Acura Vehicles Affected TORRANCE, Calif., May 23, 2002 -- American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of certain Honda and Acura models to replace an ignition switch which may cause the engine to stall. The recall involves about 1.3 million of certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Honda Accord, Civic, Prelude, CR-V and Odyssey. Also included in the recall are some 1999 Acura TL sedans and certain 1997 to 1999 CL coupes. The situation is created by electrical contacts within the ignition switch that wear prematurely causing the switch to malfunction. An affected vehicle will likely experience difficulty in starting for a period of time prior to experiencing any engine stall. Normally, the vehicle can be restarted immediately. Most customers will not experience problems with their ignition switch prior to repair -- less than 3/10ths of one percent of affected vehicles have experienced switch problems. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by American Honda and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized dealer to be repaired free of charge. The repair involves the replacement of the electrical contact portion of the ignition switch while retaining the original lock and key assemblies. Owners will be notified by mail when parts are available for their model. Because of the large number of vehicles involved, it may take several months to make the replacement parts available for all vehicles. Mailings will begin in June and should be completed by September. Details regarding mailing dates and affected vehicles will be available on the Honda and Acura Web sites today. Owners will be able to access this information by logging in to the Owner Link section of www.honda.com or www.acura.com and entering the 17-digit vehicle identification number found on their dash. Customers may also contact their Honda or Acura dealer with questions. There have been no accidents or injuries reported to American Honda related to this issue. # # # My 1998 Accord V6 Sedan is not included in the ignition recall. - Don "Bill B.
