Engine Light Code P1457 and Canister Vent Shut (CVS) valve?
Hi,
Recently my 1999 Accord LX's engine light came on. The engine light
code turned out to be P1457. Researching the net showed that it is a
common issue and is ultimately due to the Canister Vent Shut valve
becoming faulty. The local garage quoted me $40 labor to replace this
valve. Since it sounds pretty cheap for the labor, I am suspecting
that it is something relatively easy and possibly can be replaced
myself. Does any of you have any experience replacing this valve? Is
it hard to replace? Any specials tips that I should be aware of? I
am not a super handy person, but I usually do most of the regular
maintenance myself.
Thanks for any comments.

try tapping it, the solenoid sometimes gets stuck. but it should be easy to
replace its under car mounted on the evap canister. but don't confuse it
with the bypass valve

The screws that hold it to the canister get rusted and very hard to remove.
If the shop only wants to charge you $40, go for it.

Re: Engine Light Code P1457 and Canister Vent Shut (CVS) valve?
Thanks Lex and Honda Doc for your replies. I am about to order the
part. For the CVS valve, I think I just need illustration number 8 at
the following link right? I don't think I need 6 and 7. Is this
correct?

Thanks again for your comments.
