Do these keys have a remote transmitter built into them? New keys without a remote transmitter should cost $25-$35. That would include the key, duplicating it, and duplicating the anti-theft code from your original key into the new key. Do you have a breakdown of exactly what parts of the new key add up to $65? Is this US$65 or CAN$65? Shoot, even CAN$65 translates to US$47, which is still too much. Try another dealer. |

Re: honda keys 2003
It is probably because they are laser cut.

Re: honda keys 2003
I was told that new keys for my 03 Accord would be about $200. They
have the transmitter built into the key. I don't need more than the two provided with the car (plus a valet key). The salesperson was just warning me to try not to lose or destroy one! Re: honda keys 2003
I know it adds to the cost, but I do like the remote in the key. I'm
so tired of those extra fobs or the bulky folding key and remote that my Passat uses. I take it you can get a non-remote key made. That would be like the valet key only of course with the full key cut. Re: honda keys 2003
I like the fob and key separate so I can give the wife one or the other when
we're out so whoever is done first can still get back in the car. We do this and don't have to carry two sets of keys w/ us. I also used the fob to leave the key in the ignition so I could leave it in accessory so I could charge my cell phone as the 12v outlet is only hot when the key is on for some stupid reason so my phone never charges fully. Just my two cents. Jim "TL" <tlehman@visi.com> wrote in message news:u3q7kvg8l7ha428kq0kmh1kunenfqvfqla@4ax.com... > I know it adds to the cost, but I do like the remote in the key. Re: honda keys 2003
Yes, I leave the key in the car so the cell phone will charge because the
12v only comes on when the key is on assy mode for some silly reason I'm sure. Old cars it was always hot so you could use it w/o the key. I don't do this in any area where it's unsafe. At work sometimes where just to get on campus is a circus and then there's cameras and people around and everyone knows my car - close knit. The other place is at home. We live in a safe neighborhood (I know - no neighborhood is 100% safe). I'm considered secure by some neighbors standards. We all still leave doors open and unlocked - garage up when not around w/ tools - bikes etc in them etc. Lots leave their car windows down and keys on daily so they'd get their cars first. Yes, and imagine my delight when I realized-- too late-- that those pants I just threw into the wash had my key and automatic lock/unlock controller in them. Good news. My controller worked like a charm right after a wash. I got it before the dryer, though. Regular cycle, detergent, no chlorine bleach. <g> Boot Sie wrote: >i bought a new civic 2003. i almost fainted when i found out two new >keys were going to cost 130 $ > >tgs > > > |
